I got my Moleskine cahier notebook from the art house co-op today for The Fiction Project. This means that I have until 1.May.2011 to plot and write the story for the project.

This is going to be exciting for the next few weeks. My theme is “face in the crowd” and I can write about pretty much anything I want to. The are a few rules, one of which is that I cannot change the dimensions of the book. Not that I have any intention to do that.

I am trying to decide which way to go with this, a bunch of short stories or vignettes, focusing on one or two people, or just go for the longer piece.

The shorter pieces may win out because not only do I have more experience writing them, but because it will allow me to better judge the length of the stories to fit the notebook. I would hate to have to cut a long piece short because of running out of room. That would suck.

So for the next few days I’ll be working out some ideas and hopefully by the end of the next week or two I should start writing in the actual notebook.
